A wise man once told me that there are only two causes of anger: someone has insulted me, or someone or something is interfering with my goals. I find that when I am angry, it helps to figure out which category applies, which gives me a path to take to defuse the anger. Not that it always works.

"Anger stems from fear"

And, when angry, ask myself, "What am I afraid of here?"

Yes, I agree that anger can definitely stem from fear. I don’t know if I would agree that it always does but it is definitely one way in which anger arises. I think many times when this happens (fear) there is a knee jerk reaction to lash out in a defensive way. I think through investigation, one can find ways and better practices to iron these out and to figure out where these pain points lie to prevent that anger from arising in the future.
