Squandered Time
The beautiful thing about Stoic philosophy is the advice contained within it is just as applicable today as it was when it was first written all those many years ago. We can learn a great deal from interpreting the advice provided and using it to our advantage as we go throughout our own lives.
Today’s quote comes to us courtesy of Seneca in his essay On the Shortness of Life:
Quote
“…when life is squandered through soft and careless living, and when it’s spent on no worthwhile pursuit, death finally presses and we realize that the life which we didn’t notice passing has passed away.”
Advice
Understand that your life is valuable. It may not seem like it at times, but it is and the time you have on this earth is limited. It is up to you to decide how you wish to live, but if your time is squandered, if you waste it, then when the time is up and your time is called you cannot complain you do not have more of it. Life passes and we must learn to recognize when it is passing and once again grab hold of it and control it.
