New Beginnings

The beautiful thing about Stoic philosophy is the advice contained within it is just as applicable today as it was when it was first written all those many years ago. We can learn a great deal from interpreting the advice provided and using it to our advantage as we go throughout our own lives.
Today’s quote comes to us courtesy of Seneca and his moral letters:
Quote
“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”
Advice
Endings are hard for a lot of us. It can literally stop us. But to a Stoic, life and events were cyclical. It is a part of nature. Things will end and from those endings, other things will spring to life. Additionally, a Stoic viewed events through the lens of amor fati, or acceptance of fate. If something other than life ended, a Stoic would attempt to learn from the event. Thus, new beginnings can come from endings if we choose to learn from the events.
