Life Flow
The beautiful thing about Stoic philosophy is the advice contained within it is just as applicable today as it was when it was first written all those many years ago. We can learn a great deal from interpreting the advice provided and using it to our advantage as we go throughout our own lives.
Today’s quote comes to us courtesy of Zeno of Citium, the founder of Stoicism, as reported by Stobaeus:
Quote
“Happiness is a good flow of life.”
Advice
The Stoics believed that what made up a good and happy life was the pursuit of virtue. Part of being virtuous meant understanding, or attaining wisdom about the world. Here, Zeno expresses this sentiment by way of saying that happiness comes when life follows the underlying principles that guide it. While we may not always like what Nature has in store (like death), it is a fact and it is natural. Therefore, accepting life as it is with its principles helps lead to happiness.
