Amor Fati
The beautiful thing about Stoic philosophy is the advice contained within it is just as applicable today as it was when it was first written all those many years ago. We can learn a great deal from interpreting the advice provided and using it to our advantage as we go throughout our own lives.
Today’s quote comes to us courtesy of Epictetus and the Enchiridion, entry VIII:
Quote
“Demand not that events should happen as you wish; but wish them to happen as they do happen, and you will go on well.”
Advice
Do not fight against the events of life. Certain events are outside of your control and therefore your attempts to stop or change them are futile and will only lead to disappointment. Learn to love and accept fate as it is. Amor Fati.
