Emotional Intelligence
The beautiful thing about Stoic philosophy is the advice contained within it is just as applicable today as it was when it was first written all those many years ago. We can learn a great deal from interpreting the advice provided and using it to our advantage as we go throughout our own lives.
Today’s quote comes to us courtesy of Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, III.15:
Quote
“They know not how many things are signified by the words stealing, sowing, buying, keeping quiet, seeing what ought to be done; for this is not effected by the eyes, but by another kind of vision.”
Advice
Intelligence goes beyond the verbal cues we hear. Not everyone understands how their speech and actions come across. You must learn how to interpret others’ communication styles. They may not spend the time as you will to understand another, but it is our responsibility to ourselves to understand them. Our main goal is to live in accordance with Nature, and that means understanding others.
